Chief Executive Officer
Harry Smith has recently commenced his role at the ahi as CEO after 26 years in the social services and government sectors across a range of diverse responsibilities. Harry brings a wealth of sector-specific knowledge and experience, supporting our members and our wider community.
We're entering a complex time in the broader public and community housing sector and its most important participants: the renters. With rental prices at record levels, more and more people are seeking support to obtain safe, secure and affordable housing. And behind every renter is a front-line housing worker.
We believe the housing crisis can be combatted with high quality training and development of our industry members, which will continue to be the focus of the ahi under Harry's stewardship.
We welcome Harry with open arms and look forward to his guidance and leadership of all ahi staff, members and the wider sector.
We acknowledge the Wathaurong, Yuin, Gulidjan, and Whadjuk people as the traditional owners of the land where our team work flexibly from their homes and office spaces. Ahi Australia recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants of Australia and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. Ahi New Zealand acknowledges Māori as tangata whenua and Treaty of Waitangi partners in Aotearoa New Zealand.
