One of Australia’s largest housing providers, Community Housing Limited (CHL), has been busy across recent months, especially in Victoria and Queensland. Here’s a rundown of their news.

1,370 modern and affordable new homes to be delivered as part of a major Victorian housing initiative
Together with the Building Communities consortium, Community Housing (Vic) Ltd (CHVL) is excited to partner with the Victorian Government on its Ground Lease Model 2 project in Melbourne that will deliver 1,370 brand new modern and energy efficient homes across four sites in South Yarra, Prahran, Hampton East and Port Melbourne.
The project was recently announced by the Premier of Victoria Jacinta Allan together with the Minister for Housing Harriet Shing and Commonwealth Minister for Housing Julie Collins.
CHVL will work alongside specialist housing providers Aboriginal Community Housing (Vic) Ltd (ACHVL) and Women’s Property Initiatives (WPI) to deliver end-to-end housing services to the residents. Consortium partners include Tetris, Housing Australia ANZ, SMBC Group, abrdn, Invesis, ACHVL, WPI, ICON, 6 Degrees, Hayball, Studio Bright, Glas Uban landscape design and KTA.

Roma’s newest fully accessible social homes welcome residents
In a partnership with the Queensland Government, Community Housing (Qld) Ltd (CHQL) is now welcoming tenants into their newly delivered social housing development in Roma.
Owned and managed by CHQL, the complex features five one-bedroom apartments, which meet Gold standards of the Livable Housing Design Guidelines, catering for people with varying levels of mobility. Gold-level dwellings, like this one, provide features such as level threshold and showers, wider doorways and provisions for handrails.
The development has been designed to be affordable, accessible, close to public transport and community services.

Innovative seniors housing development being considered in Cairns
Community Housing (Qld) Limited (CHQL) has formally submitted a development proposal for what is set to become Queensland's most expansive community housing project, featuring 490 new social and affordable homes at the site of the disused Cairns Twin Drive-in, which closed in the year 2000.
The proposed development will be aimed towards seniors seeking to downsize and move into supported independent living in a shift to free up under-occupied social homes for larger households.
The Queensland Government is considering an application from CHQL and its Victoria-based financier/ partner Tetris Capital through the Government's $2 billion Housing Investment Fund.

Much needed social housing delivered in Logan Reserve, Queensland
CHL is delighted to share a new social housing development in Logan Reserve, which is home to 22 new residents all selected from the Queensland Housing Register.
Completed in May 2023, this project has been delivered in partnership with the Queensland Government. It has easy access to essential services, including healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and public transport as well as nearby parks, recreational facilities, and shopping districts.
